Sukhi Ghuman, CEO of Octavian Security, wins election by majority vote and becomes the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Homeland Security Foundation of America

Corporate Lawyer, international entrepreneur and founder of Octavian Security, Sukhi Ghuman, has been elected Chairman of the Board of the Homeland Security Foundation of America (HSFA). Ghuman, an active board member at HSFA since 2011, is a member of the British Indian Business Forum, Director of the Development Board for his Alma Mater, Nottingham Trent University and has a global reputation for success with businesses in the UK and the USA.

“I’m delighted Sukhi agreed to accept this role and very excited to pass the torch to someone with his capabilities, who’s just as passionate about our mission as I am,” says Eric Brown, who was re-elected for a second term as President. “As we continue to expand the agency in this challenging global economy, we’ll need to leverage resources and partnerships from unique sources of support. Sukhi’s business acumen, dedication to corporate social responsibility, and high profile contacts from around the world represent key elements that will have substantial impact on our next stage of growth.”

Ghuman has already been instrumental in developing a Port Security initiative for HSFA’s National Security Subcommittee and has plans to implement a new major gifts program, acquire endorsements from prestigious individuals and organizations, and strengthen HSFA’s mission template, providing new opportunities for HSFA to support police and security efforts throughout the U.S. HSFA conducted a swearing-in ceremony Thursday, February 9, 2012 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I’m honored to be selected for this chief role at a time when HSFA’s programs have direct impact on the economy and our safety in America,” says Ghuman, referring to HSFA’s ongoing Ready Roadmap USA Program, the new Veteran’s Assistance Program and Civil Defense Program, which creates jobs for skilled U.S. military troops and security forces returning home. “I want to be a part in making all of this come to fruition and ensuring HSFA continues to be a valuable asset to America and her interests at home and abroad.”

HSFA also recently elected five new board members, including Vassilios Damiras, Professor at Elgin Community College; J. Robert DuBois, retired U.S. Navy Seal and author of “Powerful Peace”, Ryn Melberg, Financial Manager and Consultant; FBI Analyst Matt Nelson; and Michael Smith, retired U.S. Air Force and Investigator with Nevada Energy.

“We welcome our new board members and will continue recruiting valuable additions to our team,” says Lloyd Bumanglag, Chief of Staff, HSFA. “Strengthening our Board of Directors and expanding our presence in every U.S. congressional district are high priorities for the organization, and we’re confident we’ll reach our goals on these fronts in 2012.”

HSFA is a public, non-profit agency organized and certified as tax-exempt under IRC 501(c)(3) with 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) status. Its mission is to advance Homeland Security while preserving Americans’ civil liberties through life-saving public safety, energy and health and human services programs.
